Casco woman to participate in Walk MS

CASCO, Maine — There are nine walks for MS in Maine this weekend. Each participant has a motivating factor that drives them to participate in the walk. One of those people is Melissa Wilkinson of Casco.

Melissa was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis less than a year ago. She became one of over 400,000 in the US with MS Windows XP Key, with approximately 200 more diagnosed each week with the disease. She knew little about MS and was unsure how she would handle this new battle and the challenges that were ahead in both her personal and professional life.

Less than a year later, Melissa considers herself very fortunate. She caught the disease early on and her medications are doing their job to slow down the progression of the disease. She has received amazing support from her friends, family, and her co-workers at Burns & McDonnell in New Gloucester, ME—many of which she was scared to break the news to less than a year ago.

This Saturday, April 28, she will join her Burns & McDonnell co-workers and friends who have rallied around her in support of finding a cure for Walk MS, a 6 mile walk in Scarborough, ME., part of an overall effort to create a world free of MS. Last night Melissa was asked to be the Ambassador for the walk, so she will proudly give a speech prior to the day’s event. This race is one of nine simultaneous walks occurring across Maine. Her team, which has raised almost $3,000 to date Microsoft Windows 7 Key, has 26 walkers including 10 co-workers from Burns & McDonnell working on Central Maine Power’s Maine Power Reliability Program. Melissa is very motivated for this walk McAfee Product Key, with all the money going directly toward research, providing education, and also alleviating the financial burden that MS bring upon individuals each day.

Mitt Romney Takes Manhattan Eats Pizza, Visits Fi

NEW YORK – It’s been a whirlwind, New York City kind of day for Mitt Romney,  including a celebrity funeral, slices of pizza and a curse-word screaming -protester.

The presumptive GOP nominee cris-crossed the island of Manhattan, holding a private meeting with Mayor Michael Bloomberg on the Upper East Side, attending TV legend Mike Wallace’s memorial service on the West Side, and then scooting downtown to pick up a few pizzas with former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, later delivering them to a SoHo firehouse.

The purpose of the New York visit was to mark the one-year anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s killing, and Romney and Giuliani delivered remarks outside Engine 24/Ladder 5, where 11 firemen died during the 9/11 terrorist attacks and where the former mayor held his first press conference following the attacks, setting up a temporary command center at the firehouse.

The two were at first shouted down by a protester, who screamed the F word at Romney and called him a “racist.”

But the press conference was marked more by Romney’s appearance with Giuliani.

“It’s an honor to be here with the mayor, to acknowledge these men and women who serve as our first responders, who rush to danger as opposed to rushing from it, and this, of course, is on the anniversary of the day when Osama Bin Laden finally was taken out Setting Tattoo Machine,” said Romney. “And we respect and admire the many people who were part of that, from the President who authorized that attack to the intelligence community that worked on it for so many years to identify where he was, and of course to the members of our armed services Ink Tattoo, particularly Seal Team Six that took the extraordinary risk of going into Pakistan and removing one of the world’s worst characters.”

Romney, who recalled visiting Manhattan in December after the attacks, bringing the Olympic torch to burn in the city on Christmas Day, didn’t resist repeating his criticism of President Obama’s campaign for suggesting in a video that Romney himself may not have ordered the attack on bin Laden.

“I think it’s totally appropriate for the President to express to the American people the view that he has, that he had an important role in taking out Osama Bin Laden. I think politicizing it was…and trying to draw a distinction between himself and myself was an inappropriate use of the very important event that brought America together, which was the elimination of Osama Bin Laden,” said Romney, who took a few questions from the press before leaving the firehouse.

While staying on message at the solemn firehouse stop, not all of Romney’s day in the Big Apple was quite so serious.

After meeting with Bloomberg – a meeting Romney said included a “very nice chat” that came without an endorsement – the candidate and Giuliani dropped by Joe’s Pizza parlor in the West Village, ordering six pizzas, a variation of cheese, sausage and pepperoni slices, to go.

“Joe, what do we owe you for this?” Mr. Romney asked the restaurant’s owner, Pino Pozzuoli, who insisted that the pizza was on him.

Giuliani quickly chimed in, “If you don’t charge him, it’ll cause trouble.”

Romney forked over the cash — $136 worth, to be sure, plus a tip – and went on his way, balancing a stack of pizza pies out to his waiting motorcade.

Arriving at the firehouse, pizzas still in hand, Romney and Giuliani met privately with some of the firemen, who according to the campaign poked fun at the candidate’s penchant for Boston Red Sox.

After taking a few questions, Romney was off again – en route to Philadelphia to attend an evening fundraiser.

“I didn’t know you were still here, but we’re going different directions, but thank you, mayor,” said Romney, popping out of his motorcade to say goodbye to Giuliani. “Appreciate your help. We’ll keep battling.”

“Go get ‘em Tattoo Tools,” Giuliani responded.

Romney Wins Northeastern Primaries

(Jae C. Hong/AP Photo)

Mitt Romney won primaries in Rhode Island, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania and New York tonight, the Associated Press reported.

Romney was expected to sweep all five states, where a total of 231 delegates are at stake. Turnout was low in all five states, according to local media reports.

Earlier today Newt Gingrich suggested he might reassess his campaign depending on the results in Delaware, where both Gingrich and wife Callista have spent a great deal of time campaigning. Tonight, after placing a very distant second — taking 27 percent of the vote to Romney’s 56.6 percent, Gingrich echoed that message.

“Callista and I got into this for our grandchildren,” he said. “I want you to know over the next few days we’re going to look realistically at where we are at. We’re going to be in North Carolina all week. I also want to do that as somebody who is a unifier and somebody who is realistic.”

Romney received a majority- not just a plurality- of votes in each state contest Christian Audigier Clothing sale, and walked away from the night with an additional 146 delegates Emilio Pucci Dresses sale, padding his already insurmountable delegate lead. He currently has 844 delegates, ABC News projects.

Romney’s attention has turned to the general election. In his speech tonight in New Hampshire, which will be a swing state in the fall but was not voting today, Romney focused his attacks on President Obama, as he has done in the past several weeks, since Rick Santorum dropped out of the race.

Not Getting Any Younger

Goodwin Liu

Goodwin Liu is out. Nominated to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals more than a year ago, Liu was filibustered by Senate Republicans. This week, he asked President Obama to withdraw his judicial nomination. Critics in progressive circles have charged Republicans with hypocrisy over use of the filibuster. But Liu’s nomination was always vulnerable to obstruction, and not only because of his political or judicial outlook. His age was a crucial factor. Had Liu been 59 years old, instead of 39, he would not have been filibustered.

Consider that Liu was the President’s youngest judicial nominee—younger than the next oldest nominee by nearly four years. And given his relative youth, he would have been an obvious candidate for elevation to the Supreme Court. Even if he weren’t elevated, he might well have spent the next 30 to 40 years serving on the 9th Circuit.

Aside from Liu, none of President Obama’s nominees to the federal appellate courts are under 40. Only two are under 45. On average, Obama’s nominees are more than 54 years old, which is four years older than the nominees under Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush. But the averages tell only part of the story. Consider these statistics: Of the 50 youngest appellate judges nominated since the Reagan administration, 41 were tapped by Republicans. Of the 30 youngest judges, 28 are Republican nominees; and the 18 youngest are all Republican nominees. By contrast, if you take the 50 oldest judges nominated since Reagan, nearly half of them were nominated by Democrats. For decades now, and as a matter of strategy, Republicans have been nominating younger judges. The real question is why Democrats have been doing just the opposite.

What Democrats seem to have missed is that judicial age matters. The list of the 50 youngest appellate judges appointed since the Reagan presidency—all nominated under the age of 45—reads like a Who’s Who of most accomplished federal judges of our time: Alex Kozinski (nominated at age 34), Frank Easterbrook (36), J. Harvie Wilkinson (39), Samuel Alito (39), Douglas Ginsburg (40), Clarence Thomas (41), and Richard Posner (42), to name just a few. That list also includes rising conservative stars appointed by George W. Bush, including Neil Gorsuch (nominated at age 38) Tattoo Supplies, Steven Colloton (40), Jennifer Elrod (40), Brett Kavanaugh (41), Raymond Kethledge (41), and Jeffrey Sutton (42). By this point in his first term, President Bush had nominated at least a half dozen judges who were 42 years old or younger. But President Obama has nominated just one: Goodwin Liu.

That fact was not lost on Liu’s opponents. Republican senators immediately pointed to Liu’s youth and lack of experience as a disqualifying factor, even though they had previously defended similarly inexperienced Republican nominees. During Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, actually lauded his youth as a plus: “There are many examples of judges who were appointed at an age similar to Mr. Kavanaugh, who is 39 years old, and have had illustrious careers.” He noted that all three judges for whom Kavanaugh had clerked were themselves in their 30s when nominated to the federal bench, including Justice Anthony Kennedy, who was even younger than Liu when nominated at age 38 to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Sen. Hatch concluded, “I think many of my colleagues would agree that age is not a factor in public service, other than the constitutional requirements.”

But when it came time to apply that same generous standard to Liu, Hatch balked. Noting that the ABA had unanimously rated Liu as well qualified Tattoo Supplies, Hatch said: ”That is more than a little baffling since the ABA’s own criteria state that nominees should have at least 12 years of actual law practice and substantial trial experience as a lawyer or trial judge. Professor Liu has none of that.”

The Fray team’s job is to read as many of these as possible and then try to summarize the reactions as helpfully as possible for other readers. But in this case Cheap White Herve leger, one of the authors of the piece—Jesse M. Pines Herve Leger sale, who co-wrote with Zachary F. 2) Patients giving experiences of the system, good and bad.

3) Congratulatory messages from those who agreed with the article.

4) Posts from nurses who commented on the “bed-hiding” issue. Answer: “The point was not to say that anyone is lazy—you are just as overloaded as we are in the ER.”

The fifth group was from providers who talked about other problems in the health care system that contribute to crowding Replica Chanel Dresses, and our author had this to say:

While I’m glad that you used this forum to discuss these issues because all are important, the article was about the hospital practice of boarding admitted patients in the ER. And how in some communities with high Medicaid and uninsured populations where hospitals are capacity-constrained (where demand for services exceeds supply on both the ER side and inpatient side), boarding is the profit-maximizing strategy. While Zack and I thought we explained it in the article Cheap BCBG Dresses, I am sorry if this was unclear to some.

He argued his case with more details and references before concluding:

I thank you again for your interest in this important topic that affects all Americans. Because sooner or later Marc Jacobs Dresses sale, you and your loved ones will all need to go to the ER. This needs to be discussed in public forums by people who understand the issues and can provide suggestions to hospital administrators and policymakers who have the power to eliminate boarding through objective measurement and accountability for this crisis.
